After a year in the wilderness, demoing new material, some for the two piece line-up and some a collaboration with the infamous Eddy Devro. Sleeve Fume is heading to sydney on the 8th of Feb for a one off show at Beach rd Hotel Bondi. Accompanied by the new kid on drums Jacob Mann. Before going into begin recording some new tracks, firstly material that has been long time collaborated with ol mate Eddy, back where it all started with producer Ian Pritchett/Noisegate Studios.
Spending most of 2011 at home on the farm, with some basic recording equipment to work on demos, the first half of the year was spent finally completing a bunch of material that he had been working on for a few years, but never quite suited the old line-up. Then after a brief search, Jacob showed up and started rehearsing material, old and new and a new Fumes was born.
Stay tuned for more dates after Feb…
THE FUMES & Canada: Part Two – see tour dates below
Having just notched up another swag of great reviews and healthy crowds with Elliot Brood from Canada in tow, The Fumes quickly announce round two with another fine Canadian act in Carmen Townsend joining them as special guest support. The Fumes stripped it back a tad and delivered tracks not heard for some time on the run in October and fans can expect more of the same in December with a good dash of rock this time. They hit out in mostly coastal destinations for summer sizzle with the add on signature gritty choices. This will be the last of the only two headline tours in Australia this year before they make their return back to North America in 2011.
‘Merry once again pulls up his resonator to tone down the night a touch with the acoustic melody of ‘Mystery Belle’ before signing off on another blistering gig with the slippery fuzz of Down River’
- Time off review by Mark Beresford 13th October 2010
‘Just as capable of blowing you away with booming rock tracks like The Letter as they are at jerking tears on Sundancer, their live show is one that drags you through the full range of blues-rock emotion from open to encore.’ ‘In The Fumes, you have a duo completely in tune with each other, their abilities and the style of music that they create, all of which are consistently proven each and every time they take the stage.’
- Soulshine review by Max Easton 24th October 2010

BIO
The Fumes arrive home to OZ and announce their very first headline tour of the year with special guest Elliot Brood from Canada.
Sure, they toured with Clutch, Calexico and the Hoodoo Gurus this year all before they shook down venues in the US again with their signature gritty performances, but true to form The Fumes are eager to be back in front of local fans this time with Elliot Brood who owns his own set of accolades and stays close to the road, touring relentlessly. The Brood will be on tour to support their debut album release (out now thru ABC)
The Fumes went back to their ‘beginnings’ on the recent trip to the US and it bagged the blues rockers another swag of great reviews and posts from San Francisco, LA, New York back to Minnesota and more, including a feature on Yahoo’s home page for the newly released video ‘Automobile’. The same track showered The Fumes with accolades here in Australia when it was released from their debut album ‘Guns of Gold’ mid 2006. With nostalgia in mind The Fumes return tour will include songs rarely performed these days from their early catalogue and a selection of new works written on the road delivered with the stripped back style the two piece have been enjoying in venues on their travels. Let’s call it the ‘blues sessions’. The tour will also feature The Fumes as the headline act for this year’s Sydney Blues Festival
‘…the band was closely followed by awesomeness of The Fumes who delivered their standout set. The Fumes ( 2 piece) sounded more intense and complex than any 13 piece band on the bill!’
Quote from Feature GIG Bluesfest (Byron Bay Australia 2010)- Drum Media- Street Press Australia
‘They’ve climbed to the top of the stack’- Top Pick- Australian Guitar.
‘Trust me The Fumes are smokin’ 4 stars’ The Australian.
